She’s Not Sorry is a dark and twisty thriller that you will not be able to put down.

Favourite Quote:

“What have you done with my daughter? What do you want from me?”

“Listen to me,” the man says back, his modulated voice unshaken and sedate, unlike mine. I still hear Sienna’s desperate cry in the background, a keening, weeping wail, though it’s stilted. The sound of it is enough to bring me to my knees, and yet I don’t know what’s worse: the sound of Sienna’ cry or the sound of it as it grows distant and then fades completely away.

“Where is she? What have you done to her? Why can’t I hear her anymore?”

“You need to do exactly as I say. Exactly. Do you understand?”

“I want to talk to my daughter. Let me talk to my daughter. I need to know that she’s okay. What have you done to her?”

“I have nothing to lose,” the man says, “You’re the only one with something to lose. Ms. Michaels. Now you need to shut up and listen to me because I don’t care one way or the other if your daughter lives or dies. What happens to her is entirely up to you.”

Goodreads Synopsis:

Everyone has secrets, but not everyone has remorse…

A terrible accident.

Meghan Michaels is trying to find balance between being a single mom and working full time as an ICU nurse, when a patient named Caitlin arrives in her ward with a traumatic brain injury. They say she jumped from a bridge and plunged over twenty feet to the train tracks below.

A shocking revelation.

When a witness comes forward with new details about Caitlin’s fall, it calls everything they know into question. Was Caitlin actually pushed and if so, by whom and why?

No one is safe.

Meghan lets herself get close to Caitlin until she’s deeply entangled in Caitlin’s and her family’s lives. Only when it’s too late, does she realize that she and her daughter could be the next victims…

Goodness, I think this is Mary’s darkest and twisty-est thriller yet. This book will hook you in right from the heart-pounding prologue and keep you guessing until the last page. I like this book; it’s an additive thriller with plenty of unexpected twists and turns. This book follows Meghan, a single mom to a teenage daughter and nurse. Her life is quite hectic; she is newly divorced, living in a less-than-ideal neighbourhood, and her job is demanding. I really enjoyed Meghan’s character. She felt real and relatable and was a great MC for a thriller novel.

There is a lot going on in this book. You have three mysteries unfolding at the same time. The first is around Caitlin, Meghan’s patient, who was thought to have jumped off a bridge in a suicide attempt. However, as Meghan spends more time with Caitlin’s family and when the cops get involved, Meghan soon realizes that something more sinister has happened in Caitlin’s past. The next mystery is around women essentially being targeted and hurt in their neighbourhood. The last mystery is around Nate, a childhood friend of Meghan’s who may be a victim of abuse. As this story unfolds, you find yourself trying to figure out if these mysteries are connected. There are a few mind-blowing twists in this book that will have you questioning every theory you may have and also questioning how well you really know these characters and their motivations. This book is such a well-developed and structured thriller. Mary just knocked this one out of the park.

She’s Not Sorry is a heart-pounding thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time you read it.
