This is a charming and whimsical conclusion to the Anne Chapter Book series.
Favourite Quote:
Anne did not like her red hair. It was one of her lifelong sorrows. She dreamed of having raven black hair like her best friend and kindred spirit, Diana.
Goodreads Synopsis:
Anne is starting to grow up, but she’s still disappointed with her red hair — it’s one of her lifelong sorrows. One day, she buys a bottle of hair dye in order to have raven black hair like her best friend and kindred spirit, Diana. Unfortunately, the dye ends up turning her hair green! This upset causes Anne to start focusing on improving herself inside, rather than her looks . . . and leads to a new dream taking shape: Anne wanting to become a teacher! She joins a club for students studying to get into Queen’s College. But can Anne overcome her fear of failing? And how can she study hard when pesky Gilbert is distracting her?
What a delightful conclusion to a wonderful series. Anne of Green Gables was my favourite book growing up. I adored Anne’s world and loved revisiting it any chance that I got. I have to applaud Kallie for creating this series for young readers who might not be advanced enough to read the original book. Her series has allowed these young readers to experience Anne’s world and all of her adventures.
This is a great read-along book. The text is short enough that younger readers won’t get bored or overwhelmed. Beautiful illustrations throughout the book bring the story to life and are great prompts for discussions about what is happening in the story. Even though Kallie has simplified the story, she still manages to stay true to the essence that makes Anne of Green Gables so special.
Anne Dreams is a delightful story and a wonderful addition to any child’s bookshelf.
