With Remembrance Day upon us, November is a great time to look back and reflect. One of the ways we do that here at Your Bookish Life, is to read a historical fiction novel. They may be fiction, but make no mistake that these authors spend enormous amounts of time researching their topic to ensure the historical details are just right. From interviewing survivors to tracking down rare documents, these authors are bonafide historians in their own right. We love how immersing ourselves in the stories they create gives us a different perspective on war than you can glean from history books. Seeing the situation from a character's point of view, we get a more personal and often more emotional connection to history. Here are some of our favourite reads that take place (at least partly) during WWI or WWII. We hope you take some time to try one of these titles and thank a veteran this month.
